Thought For The Day

Life Is Valuable

I am amazed at how quickly some people are willing to shoot their guns at other people. Sometimes it is Police Officers who are seemingly quick on the trigger, and we keep hearing of people “mistakenly” shooting someone – even a family member. Bag guys are notorious for pulling the trigger, and no one is safe around a gun-happy crook (or is that crazy person).

A significant number of people want to blame guns, but that is foolish. It is people about whom we need to be concerned. Failure to think, act with caution, and make sure the target, are all subjects that need consideration

A woman shot her husband, a soldier at Fort Bragg, in the chest yesterday after mistaking him for a home intruder, the Associated Press reports. He’d come back into the house to bring her breakfast in bed.

The narrative indicates she shot him through a closed door without every knowing who was there or why. It could have been a family member (other than her husband), a neighbor, or a child.

If I owned a gun, and could bounce a soda can at 30 yards, I would never shoot at something I couldn’t clearly see. That is the height of foolishness. Over the years how many hunters  have shot another person they clearly could not see thinking they were shooting some kind of game. Again, it’s people that we need to be concerned about.

God values life. We must value it as well. Your life if precious to God, and therefore must be precious to me. Your chances of being shot accidentally are very, very small, but your life will end, one way or another. Make sure you are ready to meet the One who lloves you enough to redeem you from the curse of sin and death.
