Freedom In the End

I remember the day Samuel (14 years old) and Vicki Weaver died; Samuel out in the woods, and Vicki standing in the door of her home – and her husband, Randy was struck down by a Government sniper as he ran to join her.

They lived in Idaho, a place known as Ruby Ridge. Out of that incident there are tracks and traces to Oklahoma City and the bombing of the Federal Building there, along with Waco and the Branch Davidian Compound where 76 men, women, and children died.

These tragedies were to leave scars on a multitude of lives, and a simmering hatred toward Government in the hearts of many.

Sometimes we miss the outcome of the hatred and bitterness as the years wear on and the narrative slips from the forefront of World News. Those involved, those who lived, find that life goes on and everything changes.

Sarah Weaver, Randy and Vicki’s daughter, has moved on to life. Life, here and now, and life eternal. Living now in Montana, she has found the One who searched for her. She has come to Christ.

“I went 10 years without understanding how to heal” until becoming a born-again Christian, she said. “All bitterness and anger had to go,” she said. “I forgave those that pulled the trigger.” A friend mentioned her positive relationship with Jesus Christ, and something clicked for Sara Weaver. “I was shocked at that,” she said. “I had a fear-based relationship with God.”

When the Truth came, when fear was banished and llove began, a life was changed.

“I decided I was broken and needed to be fixed,” she said. Weaver began reading the Bible, where she learned that “Jesus commands us to forgive, . . .” (Associated Press)
