Thought For The Day

Here Comes the Change

In just a few days we will know the outcome of the election for President of the United States of America. Then, toward the end of January, 2017, that person will ascend to the office and begin four years of doing whatever it is that they designed to do. The rest of us will listen, see, wonder, understand or fail to do so, and live with the consequences created by the electorate who placed that person in office.

Take a moment to hear a couple of verses from the wisdom of God. Long ago a King asked God for wisdom. . .rather than power and wealth. . .and God granted that prayer. Solomon wrote about God’s wisdom in a book called Proverbs. It is as true today as it was the day he wrote it. It is my prayer for the next four years and beyond that Proverbs 29:2 be a reality, should God tarry in taking the Bride of Christ to “a new Heaven and a new Earth.”

Proverbs 25:5 Remove the wicked from the Kings’s presence and his throne will be established in righteousness.

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous flourish the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, people groan.

The President will be either righteous or unrighteous (there is no middle ground). Those surrounding him/her will have tremendous influence in the future of our Country. The result is spelled out in the second verse listed above. I would like to suggest that you and I become those who influence the President by proxy (if you are not one of those who can do so because of your physical presence with the President). Here is how that can be accomplished. Every willing Believer should pray fervently and consistently that the Lord God of Heaven would remove unrighteous men and women from around the President and surround him/her with righteous people filled with the power of His (God’s) presence through the Holy Spirit.

Imagine spending the next four years rejoicing rather than groaning. Imagine the President becoming a Believer, filled with God’s Spirit and power, and moving toward a righteous administration.

Can’t happen, you say? Check out the change in King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:28-35

Maybe we can experience the same kind of thing. It’s worth a look.
