Thought For The Day

I Need An Attorney

First, let me say I know what the Bible says about taking a brother before the Courts. That said, I think it is about time to file some cases in Federal Courts. I also know that there are organizations which are doing exactly that, and good for them. What we need is more “local involvement” in such matters as this –

A Jesus portrait that has hung in a southern Ohio school district since 1947 was taken down Wednesday, because of concerns about the potential costs of a federal lawsuit against its display. The superintendent of Jackson City Schools said the decision was made after the district’s insurance company declined to cover litigation expenses.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio and the Madison, Wis.-based Freedom from Religion Foundation had sued on behalf of a student and two parents, calling the portrait an unconstitutional promotion of religion in a public school.

I don’t care if “portraits of Jesus” (as if there were any) are hanging in public schools, or not. If they are, that is fine with me. If they aren’t, that is fine with me. However, if we must take down such portraits because “they unconstitutionaly promote religion in a public school,” then we need to take down the portraits and pictures of all living politicians (e.g. the President of the United States, the Governor of the State, the Representative and Senators, etc.) fearing that they promote the destructive processes that have placed our Nation on the brink of an unrecoverable disaster. I certainly don’t want my “kids” to think that I support such idiocy in Government.

Don’t hear me saying that all politicians are bad people (though that would be too close to call), simply that their portrait hanging in a public place is surely an indication of veneration to one degree or another and thereby promotes a continuation of the madness.

How about a new National vote? We’ll hang the portrait of the winner in all public places. Here’s the question: Who do you think is doing the best job in relationship to the care and maintenence of your life and your future: Your politician (put in any name you like) or God. Pick one.

Perhaps I am just exercising a little “tongue in cheek.” Then, again, maybe not.
