Thought For The Day

It’s Over

I’ve had my share of Pro-Football for this season. I only watched a few minutes of the Super Bowl – Church interfered with the timing. I probably would have been bored with it anyway. I expected that the Patriots would win – and they did. But how?

A writer for TIME put it best as he shared an interview with the Seattle coach:

Carroll said he didn’t like the personnel matchup. The Patriots had their goal-line defense on the field, but the Seahawks had three receivers, and he didn’t want to run Lynch into a goal-line defense, so …… Seattle fans, take a deep breath before you read these words …“We throw the ball, really, to kind of waste that play,” Carroll said. Wait. WHAT? It’s 2nd-and-goal from the one-yard line. There is less than a minute left in the Super Bowl. You don’t waste a play there!

I know Believers are going to win in the end (not that they don’t win every day when they espouse the victory offered by a Spirit controlled life of obedience), but there is a lot of loss in the meantime. And the loss comes for the exact reason the Seahawks lost the Super Bowl, wasted plays (read: actions). Seattle had the win – who can stop Lynch from gaining one yard in four tries? I suppose it is not a sure thing – nothing is except our Savior. Stop wasting plays. Discover the Truth. Live in obedience to it. Allow the Spirit of God to fill your life with peace, joy, comfort, and know the victory of facing a defeated foe.

You’ll feel a whole lot better than the Seahawks – and above all, don’t be one of those who will miss Heaven because of wasted opportunity.
