Thought For The Day

Long Range Planning

By the time you read this, the whole World around you might be changing. This would be a great time to think about some plans for the future. Even if nothing changes, being prepared for the future is wise indeed.

In Jeremiah 10:23 we are told that a person’s life is not his own. No one is able to plan his own course. There is, however much we can do to make life better. Three things stand out in my mind – 1) Get educated: learn from life (successes and failures), make decisions based on accurate information, and become wise by listening, learning, and remembering. 2) Work hard: For others or yourself, give your best,  don’t ever give up because it is hard, and give a full day’s work for a full day’s pay. 3) Be obedient to Truth: learn and know the Truth and be free, ask God for wisdom, and make choices based on the Holy Spirit’s direction.

Still, you have little control over the circumstances of your life. Sickness comes, tragedy comes, leadership changes. So then, how does one plan? God’s council comes clearly in James 4:13-17. Take time to read that – then: 1) Don’t be presumptuous, 2) Seek the will of the Lord in all matter, 3) Do good -all the days of your life.

Prepare for tomorrow and the future. Live as if you will never see them!
