Thought For The Day

Missing the Cut

I didn’t make it this year. Truth be known, I didn’t make it last year. There is always 2014, however. Some people probably don’t aspire to the list in the first place, but, I can think of more than six reasons why I would be happy to be counted among the few.

Bill Gates is the richest American for the 20th year in a row and has reclaimed the title of world’s richest person from Mexico’s Carlos Slim with a net worth of $72 billion. Warren Buffett, again number two, was the year’s biggest dollar gainer, having added $12.5 billion to his fortune. Facebook’s hot stock pumped up Mark Zuckerberg’s fortune by $9.6 billion and put him back into the top 20 after missing the top cut last year. (Forbes – Yahoo Finance)

I was talking with my Pastor about this issue. He has no desire to be on the list. He thinks he would certainly be more popular, which is a good thing for men in his position, but knows it might distract him from showing up early every morning. I, of course, on the other hand, would continue to slave away writing this post and gramatically correcting all of his sermon notes.

He did remind me of one Truth. Obviously we don’t know anything about the “theology” of folks on the “list,” but we hope and pray they know this:

“What will it benefit a man if he gain the whole World, yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?” (Matthew 16:26)

Jesus said it “will be hard for a “rich man” to enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 19:23). I am certain I can live with what I have. . .which is HIM.
