Thought For The Day

Missing the Mark

I want to encourage you to pray for our military personnel stationed around the world; especially those who are in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are giving themselves, some the sacrifice of their own life, to keep our Nation and others, free from tyranny, and destruction at the hands of ruthless individuals.

In an Associated Press story on Sunday, I read the following: “Twelve Afghans died Sunday when two rockets fired at insurgents missed their target and struck a house during the second day of NATO’s most ambitious effort yet to break the militants’ grip on the country’s dangerous south.”

Sometimes innocent people (in this case a family) are the casualties of war. And while we abhor that reality, little can be done to mitigate that fact.

I am reminded that all of us have “missed the mark” (the Bible calls that – sin) of God’s standard. The penalty for that is death. But God has provided a substitute, a sacrifice, to take your place. You do not have to die for your sin. In this war with the Enemy who stands opposed to God and life eternally in His presence, you can be redeemed and discover the life for which God created you.

If you don’t know how. . .find a Bible believing Church near you, and ask for help. Or, respond to lloveletters.com, and we will tell you the story of God’s amazing llove.
