Not Far

In Mark 12:28-34 a Scribe asked Jesus, who was walking through the Temple, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” I hope you will take a moment to read that passage and reflect on the Truth. That Scribe was standing in the presence of Jesus of Nazareth, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe, the Alpha and Omega (the first and last), the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of peace, the Messiah who was to come, the Lamb of God, the Savior of the World. He had just affirmed that Jesus had spoken the Truth, proclaimed that there is only one God and no other than He. He repeated the greatest of all commandments.

He had said all the right words.

Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, and then said: “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
