Thought For The Day

On the Slopes

Come Winter time one place I like to be is on the slopes. I have skied in several places around the Country, and I am ready to go as soon as the trails are open. While I know it can be dangerous if one is not quite careful, it is an exciting adventure.

There are other slopes that I spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about. I know worry is a sin (and I talk to the Father about that), but I can’t help but think of how the slippery slopes spread like a virus. . .and I still have concerns that people I know and llove could so easily be trapped by the downward movement of morality in our society.

Here is one of those slopes:

More Americans are using marijuana, and fewer people think that regularly doing so is harmful. The new study shows that from 2002 to 2014, the number of American adults who used marijuana in the last year increased by 10 million and the number of people who used it daily increased by more than four million. (TIME)

No thinking person is surprised by this study. When any behavior becomes “normal” or “acceptable” that behavior almost always increases.

I am still convinced that marijuana is a gateway drug for many. While not all people move toward stronger drugs, the exponential increase will bring about an exponential increase.

Here are a couple of examples from my tiny World. The more often one takes a Sunday off from Church, the more often one take a Sunday off from Church. The more one fails to pray regularly and search the Scriptures, the more one fails to communicate with God and fill the mind with Truth. The more we deny that, the more we deny that.
