Thought For The Day

Peaceful Transfer of Power

There was a lot of speculation in the “media” as to whether Donald Trump and his supporters would allow for a peaceful transfer of power if he lost the election. They were sure his ragtag band of “deplorables,” misfits, racists, and Bible-toting nut jobs, would burn down the World given the chance.

Now that it is over, it is the very ones who are always taking to the streets, and it is not the Trump supporters. New York City, Washington, D. C., and many others will feel the brunt of such childish behavior.

Protests also sprung up in Oakland, Calif.; Seattle; Pittsburgh; Austin; Dallas; Philadelphia; Portland; Providence, R.I.; Atlanta; St. Paul, Minn.; and several cities around the world. The demonstrations were mostly peaceful, but there were pockets of unrest. Police in Oakland fired tear gas at protesters who threw projectiles and firecrackers at officers, reports KTVU. There were also reports of smashed storefront windows and protesters setting garbage cans on fire. Dozens gathered in Lee Circle in New Orleans, the Times-Picayune reports, where they rallied as well. During the protests, some people wrote anti-Trump messages on a monument of General Robert E. Lee, who led the Confederate Army in the Civil War. Protestors allegedly vandalized two statues of Civil War heroes Jefferson Davis and Matthew Fontaine Maury in Richmond, Va., by spray painting the words “Your vote was a hate crime” on them. Hundreds marched and 10 were arrested in Richmond, CBS 6 reports. Further up the East Coast in Massachusetts, about 4,000 people gathered at Boston Common and marched to the State House. (TIME)

Some are saying these folks in the streets are just sore losers. Some are saying they are the only ones “strong enough” to stand up against what they are confident will occur under a new Administration led by President-elect Trump. The truth is, they are indicative of the very things which led to the stunning defeat of the status-quo, and a repudiation of where America has gone in the past several years. Most Americans are people who do not protest, burn flags, riot in the streets, destroy historical monuments, spray-paint graffiti and filthy words in public places. They are not people who hate others, or throw projectiles at Police officers and other civilians. They are, rather, those who had gone as far as they could in the growing Godlessness of our culture, rampant political correctness, skyrocketing unemployment, a failing economy, and a exponentially expanding diversity that is savaging the American way of life.

We will see in the days ahead what will be the outcome of this mini-revolution. It is possible that much will change for the good of America. One thing that will not change is that God is still in control of this Nation and every other Nation on Earth. His conclusion* will be reached in “due time.” There is no vote that will change that!

*His conclusion: He will speak this World out of existence as surely as He spoke it into existence, and the Bride of Christ will join Him in the New Heaven and the New Earth.
