Thought For The Day

Pick and Choose

I can’t help but wonder if God is concerned about our “pick and choose” method of handling His Word. I know we do it with a multitude of other things, and really, it is in our nature to do so. (Which is why we need His nature in us.)

We choose to avoid sky diving and shark hunting, but smoke, and drive well over the speed limit knowing that the latter two are far more dangerous than the former.

We use anti-bacterial soap to kill germs that are vital to our living, and eat until we are unable to waddle through the door, as if we had made a good choice.

We can’t possibly believe that God was telling us the Truth when He said He created the Universe and everything that exists in six days, but we do believe that He is to be the God of all comfort and we expect ours – now!

We are sure Jesus lied when He said, “No man comes to the Father but through Me.” There surely has to be other ways. But we cling to the Cross, just in case.

I know picking and choosing in relationship to His Word is foolish. If I can’t believe all of it, I can’t trust any of it.
