Thought For The Day

Truth Rules

IBRAHIM BARZAK, Associated Press writer: GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – The militant group Hamas said it remains committed to a cease-fire with Israel, but will not act as Israel’s “police force” in confronting militants who breach the truce.  Barzak quoted Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya as saying, “Hamas is not going to be a police securing the border of the occupation. No one will enjoy a happy moment seeing Hamas holding a rifle in the face of a resistance fighter.”

I am reminded of all those folks who slip a cog when someone who believes the Word of God and chooses to stand firmly for the Truth speaks out against those individuals and “churches” who seem to have no clear standard at all. Some deem it unseemly that those who mislead and misspeak, or who brazenly mishandle the Truth, twisting it into a ploy for nickles and noses, are criticized by one who holds the Truth in the highest esteem as God’s holy Word.

I would not want to be one who says, “I believe the Word of God, and am called by God to proclaim its Truth,” but then be unwilling to call to account those who handle it (God’s Word) falsely.

Someone(s) must police the Truth, or vast segments of our society will remain ignorant and condemned.  There really are individuals who claim to be spokespersons for God who, at best, don’t know the Truth, or at worst, wish only to be richer and more famous.
