Thought For The Day

Political Confusion

OK, I admit to not being the “sharpest knife in the drawer” but I wish I could understand (believe?) what I hear. Most people, like me I think, base their political vote on what they hear and read in the Media, or what they hear from the candidates in forums where they are face to face with the candidate.

Here in Texas I find myself confused – maybe because I’m just dumb, or maybe the two leading candidates for Governor are talking about two different things, or because I don’t know where to find the TRUTH (and I am somehow sure each side can send me info proving “both” are true). One candidates says there is a “18 billion dollar hole in the budget.” The other candidate says there is an “8 billion dollar surplus.” So which is it? Am I  making this stuff up? Have I missed something? Have I heard incorrectly? Are they (the candidates) talking about two different things?

I just feel confused.

But what really concerns me is that folks who are listening to the Church of Jesus Christ are often confused. They (the spokespersons/leaders of the Church) often say two (or three or four or more) different things. How can one expect to find the Truth when there is so much being bandied about that is inconsistent with God’s revelation of Himself to men through His Word.

Get it wrong in the political arena – and you get a Governor who. . .  “misspoke.” Get it wrong in relationship to the TRUTH (God’s Word) and your current life is less than it can be, and your eternal life is in jeopardy.
