Thought For The Day

Politicians and Preachers

I have never thought that Politicians and Preachers had much, if anything, in common. It is true that they sometimes talk and act alike, but in the pureness of their position, there is no overlap.

Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain died today. There are a couple of quotes from her bright mind and superb work ethic that I ran by our Preacher this morning. He seemed to think I was on to something.

If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing. (Margaret Thatcher)

Preachers lloved to be liked, but that is not their calling. They can never compromise on the TRUTH of God’s Word, the narrowness of the Gospel, and the sacrificial discipline of walking in the righteousness of Christ.

To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. (Margaret Thatcher)

The World seems bent on bringing “religion” to a consensus that allows every belief to be equal to every other belief. The way to God is multifaceted and available to everyone regardless of the path taken. No true “man of God” can submit to such foolishness or be lulled into a complacency of ignorance, because Jesus said, No man comes to the Father except through me.

Margaret Thatcher had a clearly determined path – and pursued it with passion. Thank God for Preachers who do as well.
