Our Kids?

I am confident that you have seen this quote by now –

We have never invested in public education as much as we should have, because we’ve always had kind of a private notion of children. Your kid is yours, and totally your responsibility. We haven’t had a very collective notion of “These are our children”; so part of it is that we have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities. Once it’s everybody’s responsibility and not just the household’s, then we start making better investments. (MSNBC)

Let’s see if I am understanding all this –

The Government wants my money – taxes, fees, surcharges, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, etc.
The Government wants my guns (if I had any).                                                              The Government wants me to embrace homosexuality and treat it as normal.            The Government wants to murder the unborn as a convenience to society.
The Government wants to control my insurance/health-care.
The Government wants to limit my exposure to CO2, tobacco smoke, industry emissions, etc., etc., (but not booze and pot and the stench of politics).
The Government wants to decrease the size of my automobile and make it run on electricity – or smoke and mirrors.
The Government wants to remove any vestiges of God from my society.
The Government wants to limit what I can say about TRUTH.

Now the Government (? – Remember: It takes a village. . .) wants my kids. Well, they don’t want mine (they are way too expensive) – I guess they want my grandkids.

Ok, here’s my carefully considered, reasonably intellectual, gentlemanly response: Over my dead body!
