Thought For The Day

Power Outage

When I stopped by the office at Church this afternoon, even though there were two cars and a few people there, the power was out. It was dark inside. One person was working on a song for this coming Sunday and the accompanist was using a cellphone light to view the music as she played the piano.

It was a power company issue. Later I realized that all the lights were out in our small town, even the single signal light in the middle of town.

A Church without power. Now that is something I can talk about. Most of the Churches I have know over the years are sometimes (or more often) without power. It is not that the power company has failed them, but rather the members of the family of Believers are living their own life without much (or any) power and when collected (as most are on Sunday) there is not much power being generated.

That is a sad state of affairs when we (Believers) have access to all the power that spoke this Word into existence (see Genesis 1:1) and created everything  that has been made from the beginning of time (see John 3:1ff) and sustains everything that is by the power that is His alone (see Romans 1:20)

Power up!!
