President ???

“. . .for there is no [governing] authority except from God.” We’re going to elect a President for the United States in just a few days, and I am not sure how one can be less than “anxious” about the outcome. I think it is safe to say that we are in a mess here in our great Republic. We need to thank God with enthusiasm that we are not some other Nation, because, I can assure you, this is the best, the greatest, the most promising, and the most blessed Nation on Earth.

That is not to say that we don’t have significant problems. Obviously the economy is at the forefront at the moment, but we have great moral issues that continue to create an environment that God will not sanction or abide. It may be that in this election we are getting exactly what we deserve regardless who wins the office. Peace and prosperity may be our goal, but the reality is that we are a Nation with multiple violations of Scripture, and a considerable bounty of hatred, violence, bitterness, and greed. While we utilize every device to push God from our collective consciousness, we continue to believe we are a “Christian” nation deserving His grace and mercy.

Let’s say it one more time. Character matters! God may be on track to give us what we deserve. I surely hope that is not true.
