Thought For The Day

Sanctuary

People are asking. The “News” is filled with controversy. Time to speak the Truth.

Here’s the brief focus that elicits my response:

At least two undocumented immigrants were detained after leaving a church-run hypothermia shelter in Virginia earlier this month, raising concerns among advocates that similar arrests might cause people to avoid getting much-needed help. (TIME)

Getting help in this Country is really not all that difficult. We have an incredible amount of resources available to those in need utilizing State and National assets. In the tiny community where I live there are fourteen Churches, most of whom are always ready to help those in need, plus two organizations whose entire focus is helping those in need with shelter, food, clothing, financial resources, and health care needs, even counseling when appropriate.

What we (the Church of Jesus Christ) cannot provide is sanctuary from the laws of the United States of America, States, Counties (Parishes), cities and towns. Churches, and those who pretend to be Churches, who offer sanctuary to anyone who is in violation of the laws in this Nation are in violation of Scripture, which, by the way, is the law of God for His people.

A Church who provides cover (safety?) for those who are acting in a lawless manner have set themselves apart as those who are unwilling to obediently follow the very One they claim to represent.

Far from being altruistic, they are rebellious and will answer for their actions. Whom God lloves God disciplines. That is the TRUTH. (see Romans 13:1ff)
