Thought For The Day

Saying and Doing

It’s not hard to find folks that say, “It’s not what you say but what you do that counts.” It is true that what we do must match what we say, but what we say is vitally important. Understand that both what we say and do depends on who we are. Who we are depends on who we know. Knowing Christ changes everything about us – even though that doesn’t mean that everything we do is changed.

The guest Preacher at Shady Grove Baptist this morning talked about “position” and “function.”  (See Ephesians 2) That is, who we are, and how we live in light of that. Our position in Christ is one of absolute holiness and perfection. Our function (what we do) doesn’t always (maybe never) match that, and as Shakespeare would say, “There’s the rub.”

Our lives are to be full of peace. Is your’s? Each life is to be free of bitterness, anger, or any animosity. Is your’s? Are you involved with a body of Believers who are busy loving one another, sharing the Gospel, and working together to bring ever member of the Body to the maturity which is measured against the stature of Christ?

Just saying.
