Thought For The Day

Scams and Such

One would think that after all the scams people have endured over the years we would be wiser. Unfortunately, there are many who fall for almost anything that comes their way. The latest scam making the rounds – and it is U. S. wide – is that the Obama Administration is going to help you pay your ordinary bills. It doesn’t take a lot of persuasion with those who are always in line for a hand-out.

The scheme was first reported in May, when Dallas-based Atmos Energy warned its 3 million customers in 12 states that scammers had been asking for Social Security numbers to enroll in the faux federal program. According to the pitch—distributed via email, Facebook, text message, phone and, in some cases, door-to-door sales—the government would pay a month of energy costs through credits offered by the Obama administration.

And as sad as that is, taking money resources from the most gullible, there is a bigger scam that has been going on for two thousand years – and almost everyone falls for it.

The Enemy (the Evil One) has been scamming people into believing they can find forgiveness for the sin of Un-belief by simply living a better, perhaps more moral, life. “Just follow the ‘golden rule’ and you will be fine.” If only we can post more “good” things done in our life as opposed to “bad” things done in our life, we are safe from the condemnation of sin. People are told they can argue their case before Saint Peter (?) at the “pearly gates’ (?), and if the stories of one’s goodness are good enough, he will let you into Heaven.

It’s a scam. It’s the largest, most successful, most potent scam in the history of the World. Jesus (God’s Son, the perfect Lamb) said that the only access to God (Heaven if you will) is via “the door,” and He is the door. One must come “God’s way.” Jesus said, “I am the way.” The Scripture is clear that only those who have placed their trust in the blood of Calvary’s cross will enter the “narrow gate,” that is the entrance to God’s eternal presence with mankind.

Don’t fall for “the scam.” One can’t save them-self no matter how hard they try.

The Obama Administration is not going to pay your electric bill this month. That’s a scam.  Don’t fall for it.

And don’t fall for the biggest scam of all time. It will cost you your life. Only Jesus saves! (see John 3:16
