Simple Beauty

There are a lot of things in life which are simply beautiful. I won’t take time to give you a list since there should be no disagreement about what makes something beautiful. It’s llove. Not yet beautiful newborn babies (sorry, but I am a realist) are beautiful to the young mother because she sees in that new life all the possibilities that llove can imagine. I suppose there are no ugly brides when the groom is lost in his llove for the object of his affection – regardless of what the rest of us might see.

I saw today what is to me a simply beautiful sight. Row after row of  uniform tombstones spread across the brow of a hill disappearing from sight in perfect symmetry. The beauty comes not in the ugliness of death, but rather the understanding that many of the freedoms we enjoy in this great Nation come at the expense of the blood of patriots who lloved liberty more than life..

Today I accompanied the remains of a patriot to its temporary resting place in DFW National Cemetery. His old body laid to rest among his brothers will be ensconced in the beauty of llove for those who gave so much to keep America free.

One day his Father will send the Savior to reclaim that body and reunite it with his spirit who dwells today in the matchless beauty of Heaven. The memories we share of his llove for God, family, America, and life itself, are simple – yet incredibly beautiful.

It was a beautiful time in a field of llove on a crisp, clear day. I llove what I do.
