Thought For The Day

Sour Grapes

I mentioned the Cowboy playoff game yesterday – and I guess you know the ‘Boys won. I saw the following from the Detroit Free Press:

The NFL’s head of officiating was pretty candid today when talking about the Dallas Cowboys’ 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Dean Blandino admitted to “Pro Football Talk Live” that Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens got away with a penalty on Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew in the fourth quarter, a critical no-call that derailed a possible Lions scoring drive.

I wonder why the DFP didn’t mention the Lion running into the Cowboy punter (ignored by the official) a little earlier – which derailed a possible Cowboy scoring drive. Or maybe someone should have mentioned three or four others times when the officials seems to miss infractions on the part of both teams. The truth is, there are infractions that get missed and penalties that get rescinded all the time. If every infraction was called and every penalty accessed, no doubt every game could go a different way. Way back, when I was a football and baseball official, even I missed or blew calls (I know, hard to believe).

Here’s some good news. God never misses a call or accesses an unearned penalty. He knows what you do, and how you do it. He catches ever mistake, every sin, every failure to live up to your calling. Unlike men, however, He is always willing to forgive. Every infraction has its consequences, and in the end He will make the right call. The Redeemed are going to Heaven. The unRedeemed will not. The Cowboys are going to Green Bay, the Lions are going home. It’s that simple. It’s that sure.

If you’re making the wrong moves – stop! Find a place – find someone, that can give you the TRUTH. You will both (the giver and the receiver) be winners.
