Thought For The Day

Supporting Christianity or. . . .

If there is anything that is “against the rules” now days it is supporting something “Christian” outside the walls of a Church building. There are some groups and individuals who want to dictate what can and cannot be said, and limit the members thinking to that which is politically correct, even inside those walls.

God forbid that a public school should get involved with some organization like Samaritan’s Purse. After all, that is an organization that is almost completely politically incorrect, and an extreme danger to children being left in their poverty without help from people who would care about them.

Attorneys for the Douglas County School District (DCSD) are fighting against the American Humanist Association (AHA), which in October brought a lawsuit against various schools within the district, claiming that participation in the Operation Christmas Child and Adventures in Missions programs constitute the promotion of religion. Organized by Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse, the annual Christmas outreach encourages children and adults to put together shoe boxes filled with small gifts for children from disadvantaged and poverty-stricken regions around the globe. Because the program focuses on giving tangible gifts to show love for underprivileged children and provide for their physical needs — as opposed to proselytizing — school district officials see absolutely nothing wrong with what their principals and teachers are endorsing. But the “American Humanists” are having none of that. They are “intent on banning students and staff members from participating in the programs because they are connected to Christian charitable organizations, which it says is synonymous with promoting Christianity to the exclusion of all other religions.”

Well, of course there is an easy solution. I don’t know why I have to be the one to notice how easy these things are to fix. One would think that there are really smart people out there who would figure this out.

Next Christmas, or maybe there is still time this year, for the DCSD to support the “World Wide Muslim Outreach” to children who are “disadvantaged and proverty-stricken.” Oh, wait. Uh, never mind!

Or, let the DCSD go with the “Buddhist’s Disadvantaged Children Fund.” Oh, wait. Uh, never mind.

How about the “Church of Scientology’s Children’s Christmas Extravaganza.” Oh, wait. Uh, never mind.

I guess I need to rethink this. I’ll check with Franklin and see if he can think of something.

Remember that those who Oppose are seeking to stop the “Free Exercise of Religion” and replace it with the “Freedom to Worship (within the four walls of your Govt. approved Church).”
