Thought For The Day

Three Days

Donald Trump was inaugurated on Friday. There were lots of activities on Saturday and Sunday and the real “first day” in the Office (read: Oval) was Monday. Now it is Wednesday. I am already reading that he has not accomplished every one of his campaign promises, as of this hour. What is he waiting on? Was his whole campaign just hype or flat out lies? What kind of man is this who finds himself on the public dole and does nothing?

I don’t remember it being this way with the last President. . . or the one before, or before that, or before that. One would think that we would give him a little time to get his desk straight, meet some folks he has to work with, create a time frame for working out the details, and ultimately accomplishing some really good, even great, things.

I wonder what God thinks about those of us who have been part of His family for years. . .as opposed to those who are new to the faith. Many have learned little about the Scripture, God’s path and light for that path, wisdom and knowledge, and every spiritual blessing already ours to become who we are designed to be, and hence we have accomplished little. Many have yet to share their faith with anyone else so that through the Truth of God’s Word, revealed in and through us, the Spirit might convict and draw those who hear to God. A vast majority of longtime Believers have yet to discover a corporate ministry, much less a personal ministry, through which they can positively affect the life of other Believers and the non-believers around them.

The fact that such a crowd exists is due in part to a lack of expectations by the Church that parallels the expectations of Scripture.

I am going to give the new President a while to “get his act together.” I believe he will do good, even great, things for America. It will be difficult to accomplish much of anything given the corruption of Government, but, with time, who knows.

The Church, on the other hand, has been at this for over 2000 years. Multitudes of Believers have been around long enough to be capable, competent, and committed. Let’s get on with it!
