Thought For The Day

Tolerance and Acceptance

I try to spend a little time each morning learning and becoming aware of those changes that are going on around me in life, reading God’s Word, and making decisions about what to say, or not, regarding my thoughts.

This morning I was reading an article –
Liberals in our Midst: How the Religious Left Is Changing America’s Future

It carried the subtitle: While the religious right claims the spotlight, faith-based progressives are working to bring about tolerance and acceptance. (Take Part)

I suppose I could be classified (though I dislike being classified) as a part of the “religious right” (which means, I think, I believe the Bible). Indeed I do. However, I am sure the Bible does not espouse much that many think, and much more than others think.

I want to simply issue you a challenge today. Can you spare a couple of minutes? This morning I read Isaiah 40. What an incredible Chapter. I then re-read the incomparable insight (no more than the rest, but so beautiful) that begins in verse 21 and continues to the end in 31. Would you take time to read that Chapter? Please?

Spend a moment or two (or longer) contemplating what you are willing to tolerate and accept, and what you are willing to expose and explain. Mankind, by and large, has always harbored the belief that people are smarter, wiser, more tolerant, and more accepting than God. Re-read vss. 25-28. Really? In light of what you read there, can one really think that? Feel free to tell me what you think (it’s easy to comment).

Thanks for taking time to read lloveletters (please, send your comments) But more, thanks for taking time to read God’s Word.
