Trivializing God

When one worships and lloves with heart, mind, soul, and strength the Omnipotent God of Heaven and Earth it is offensive to have Him trivialized by the ignorant. One might expect that from a neophyte, or an unbeliever, but when the Pastor joins in. . .well, God forgive us.

A woman who eats way too many Goldfish, obviously – “When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” she said. “Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.” Burke admittedly has been working from a large sample size, consuming between two and three pounds of the crackers per week. She says she eats the small crackers individually, examining each one for the optimal amount of savory coating.

“I believe that it’s a sign, a sign from God,” Patti Burke told WKMG. “He is still in our life every day, and he wants to show that to his people.” (Yahoo News)

If one finds it necessary, or even desirable, to have a “sign from God” every day, it is apparent that individual has missed entirely the Truth of God’s revealed Word. God’s way is the way of faith, not signs. God has revealed Himself completely in His Word. His only begotten Son (Himself God) came to give us the final revelation of the totality of God Himself. The Scripture said that in HIM (Christ) dwells the fullness of the Godhead.

Then we get this comment from one who should know better –

After becoming convinced that the cracker in fact possessed a deeper, spiritual message, Burke brought her sign of faith to her pastor, D. Scott Worth. Worth told WKMG. “I think it’s a sign,” Worth told WKMG. “I think it points to, I would hesitate to call it a miracle, but I think it points to the miracle, which is Jesus Christ defeated death. And that’s what Easter is all about.” (IBID.)

Can you really believe that God communicates through Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers? If your answer is yes, you need to discover the Word of God. . .and probably a NEW Church.
