Thought For The Day

Voting Time

Yesterday I took a few minutes to vote in the 2008 Presidential Election. There was a very short line (I waited about two minutes), and I was in and out in a flash. I saw a friend who said, “I wrote in your name since I couldn’t vote for any of the current candidates for President.” While I know how he feels, I do have some concerns about that. Suppose all my friends do that — and they tell others, and they do that. What if I win? I don’t have time to run this Country. I spend most of my day making up the stuff I am going to write in these posts. I’ve got lunch dates already scheduled into 2010. I am planning a cruise next year, and, if the truth be known, I’m not sure who the President of Bolivia is.

Don’t vote for me! After all, what we need in Washington is people who have good sense, sound judgment, impeccable character, and they have to know how to dance (the Inaugural Ball, of course). I’m kinda short in most of those areas (especially the dancing).

Just choose the person who you are confident will do the best job or choose the person who has the best (or best looking) Vice-Presidential running mate (I’d pick my wife if I were running). Choose the person who hasn’t lied to you already, or wasted time in Congress, or failed to be consistent.

OK, OK, already! Write me in!
