Thought For The Day

We Just Don’t Get It

Is it true that as our Nation slides into the clutches of total depravity, we just don’t get it? Or, is it possible, that we get it, we just don’t care? Sometimes I am like the unbelievers on Mt. Carmel with Elijah – I “halt between two opinions.” (see 1 Kings 18:20 and following)

Politically, I think, we can find both (don’t get it/get it, don’t care) to be true. Socially, we can find both in great measure. Biblically, strangely enough, there are two opinions (unless you are Baptist – then, as we all know, where you find two to three Baptists you find four or five opinions) even though there is only one Truth.

I am amazed that State Legislators are stuck in one of these two. They keep passing “legislation” that will be struck down by the Courts.

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters)The Indiana House on Tuesday approved a proposed state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, bucking a national trend where legislatures in other states have been making same-sex marriages legal. “We are pleased the process continues and look forward to working with the Senate to restore the people’s right to resolve this issue this year,” said Curt Smith, president of the Indiana Family Institute, which supports the amendment.

Curt, come on! We are long past the  point where the people have a “right to resolve this issue.” That thinking is long since made invalid as the Government has moved well beyond the concept of a Nation founded on “We the people,” and the principles of God’s Truth.  Pass all the legislation you wish – and watch it struck down – at least until the majority of Americans “get it” or “care” or both.
