Thought For The Day

What Really Matters

In Philippians 1:10 the Apostle Paul calls the Church to an understanding of “what really matters” in life.

May I tell you a couple of things that matter, in my opinion, among all the other things that matter?

  1. Excellence – in Ephesians 6:6 Paul talks about excellence in our work. Whether that is in our work for our Lord, or for our employer, or for our friends and family, we must recognize that how we work is watched by our Lord and evaluated in relationship to His will and design for our life. The right attitude, obedience, and a consistent self-examination are vital if we are to be pleasing to our Father and to those around us. It is a good thing to continually ask ourselves – “what am I becoming?” Purity and blamelessness are the order of every day.
  2. Living in God’s design – We are to live each day filled with the “fruit of righteousness.” Paul gives us a list in Galatians 5:22, and memorizing those characteristic and utilizing our efforts and determinations to demonstrate them well really matters. How do you measure up in the following: llove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control? If we are not “living” with that as what genuinely matters, it is likely that we are missing God’s design.

Perhaps an inventory of what really matters to you is in order. Someone will be happy to help you understand what he/she thinks matters to you. Once you know that, you may be well on your way to discovering how life can be what it is designed to be – abundant, rich, full, and glorious.

It really matters, you know?
