Thought For The Day

A Better Way

In his letter to the Church at Corinth, Paul the Apostle, after talking about the supernatural operation of the spiritual gifts, tells the believers that there is a better way to minister than via miracles, healings, helping, managing, and various kinds of language.

I will show you an even better way. . .”, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12:31.

It is that “better way” that surges and flows thru the Church where I worship, learn, and practice my spiritual gift. I have never seen it more clearly demonstrated than when people will get up at 4:30 in the morning to stand beside someone going into surgery at 6. People who prepare food and flowers, cards and calls, when a beloved member of the family transfers their membership to Heaven may exist in all Churches, but the one I attend seems to do it best. I see weeping when others weep. I see laughter when others laugh. I hear words of care, concern, gentleness, hope, peace, and llove when people take time to talk about the family and its individual circumstances. There’s a lot of hugging, hand holding, and whispering “I Llove you” when the family gathers.

A lot of Churches have lost that. They have become a “business” where folks come for Worship (such as it is), take advantage of the myriad programs offered, and invest in the latest project. I don’t mean to say that they don’t “llove one another.” It’s just that sometimes it is hard to see, feel, experience.

But where I attend, at least from my vantage point, I see it, feel it, experience it! The “better way.” Yeah, Paul was right!
