Thought For The Day

Caretakers

It is often said that being a “caretaker” is one of the most difficult jobs in the World. Some people spend a major portion of their life caring for someone, perhaps a mother or father, or a handicapped child, and for many a spouse that needs constant attention. I believe we ought always to honor those who give their time and attention to this endeavor.

The Truth is all Believers are supposed to be caretakers. Undoubtedly it is in a different sense than that which appears in the first paragraph, but vital to the health and welfare of the Church of Jesus Christ.

I visited with an old friend this week who lives in a city different from me. She is past ninety, and while mostly healthy, she has difficult walking and moving for than a few feet at a time. She told me how much she misses going to the gathering of the family of God. While people call and occasionally visit, I am wondering why someone doesn’t bring a wheelchair and transport her back and forth to the meetings. Would she go? Yes! Would it demonstrate the kind of care we ought to find common in the body of Christ? Yes!

Care is a prerequisite to llove. Scripture says we (Believers) are to “care for one another.” (1 Corinthians 12:25)

If you have no one to care for, you miss an opportunity to be obedient, blessed, and lloved as you carry out the task. And, caretakers are people admired by everyone who thinks clearly.

Tell her to ask someone. i cannot figure out why we (really all of us) sit and wait, ask. We sit and wonder why no one calls, call them. We wait for someone to apologize, they have no clue. Communications is two way, on going, ever defining feelings (or in a man’s case, ever listening about feelings).

    dp,
Of course you are right. But some people refuse to “be a burden” to others. Not good thinking (one helps others by letting them help to cary one’s burdens), but quite the reality. Thanks for your comments.
