Thought For The Day

Change?

I have said so many times, “I cannot imagine the hurt of loosing one’s child to death.” While I have walked that path with several over the years, it is not one that I know personally. I continue to pray for the families in Connecticut, and others. I would do anything I could to support them should the opportunity present itself.

I cannot, however, avoid the reality of TRUTH. Many people in our Nation are quick to “turn to God” when faced with such tragedy. Yet, in the normal course of daily life, those same people, and millions more like them, ignore God, His Word, His Truth, His grace and His justice.

“We can’t tolerate this anymore,” [President] Obama said from behind a podium on the stage of a Newton High School auditorium, as adults wept, or hugged, or sat quietly, many hugging small children. “These tragedies must end. And to end them, we must change.” (Yahoo News)

How right he is! One of the issues we ignore is the difference a few (5, 6, 7) years makes. I can’t help but think not only of these 20 children (killed in a senseless, vicious, unimaginable horror), but of the literally millions of children who were not in schools all over this Country that day because they were murdered in the womb, or worse, after being partially born.

We have moved toward the destruction of the family, God’s design for marriage and the wonder of procreation, with reckless carelessness for the law of God, and then dare to invoke His intervention in our pain. The sin that cost Jehovah God the life of His own Son continues unabated – and grows exponentially on our watch – yet we fail to “know His pain,” and  live as if He has not given “all” for us.

“We must change.” (IBID.)

Yes, we must change! Lead on, Mr. President. Invoke the promise and  grace of the Scriptures you quote – for yourself, for our Nation, for people suffering from the ravages of sin brought on by our rebellion, ignorance, and apathy.

Seek the protection of “Divine Providence” which once made America “one Nation, under God.”
