Thought For The Day

Encouragement

I am fortunate to have a couple (or more) of friends that allow me to read the “funnies” that always develop around the issues and struggles of life. I don’t know where these things come from, but most of them are genuinely funny. Someone said, “it just take a crisis to create a whole new batch of jokes.”

I am also glad that I am not holed up in some city apartment or condo, but can walk out my door and walk, and look, and see the beauty of God’s creation for an hour or two and never cover the same territory or see another person. I don’t mean that to discourage you if you can’t, and  you are welcome to take the same walk here, anytime.

During these days the real encouragement comes from my friends and family with whom I can communicate even though I can’t spend be with them. Knowing that I love them, and they are there, lloving, caring about my Bride and me, is a real joy.

Most of all, I have the promise of God. My reading took me to Psalm 46 this morning. You can read that – if you want to. It talks about the City of God and the river that flows through it. I thought especially this morning about the verses which read: “Nations rage, Kingdoms topple, the Earth melts when He lifts His voice. The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Come see the works of the Lord. . .stop fighting – and know that I am God, exalted among the Nations, exalted on the Earth. The Lord of Hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold.”

What a joy to know that no matter how dark tomorrow may seem, God is absolutely in charge of everything. I have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about, nothing to fret over. This whole disaster (men’s terms) will resolve. . .or it won’t. Either way it will not affect the City of God, and that is where Believers will spend eternity. Kinda makes me wonder why I should be concerned about anything other than being about my business of lloving Him and lloving you.
