Get Out!

I am all for getting out of Iraq just as soon as feasibly possible. I long for the time when not one single American troop will have to put his or her life on the the line for this great Country. But I don’t like the sound of those statement that seem to “wish us gone” after all we have done to free them from the tyranny of a dictatorship.

“An aide to the prime minister said Monday that Iraq remained adamant that the last American soldier must leave Iraq by the end of 2011 — regardless of conditions at the time.”

That does not sound to me like, “Thanks a lot, you’ve been a savior to us in this battle.”

Of course we are kind of like that with God. Even though He has saved us by His grace, and offered us the limitless use of His resources, we want Him out of our “business” as soon as possible. “Don’t try to force that spiritual maturity stuff on me,” we say. “I just want to live my life in my own way, doing what I want, when I want, and with no requirements from you.” Perhaps we have not “considered the cost.” 

I am sure at least some of the people of Iraq have not “considered the cost” of our effort on their behalf.
