Thought For The Day

God’s Home

Isaiah 66:1 says, “This is what the Lord says: Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. What house could you possibly build for Me? And what place could be My home?

God is the designer, creator, maker of everything which we see, feel, touch, and know. Where, if it were you, would you choose to reside? Sometimes people mistakenly believe that the local Church house, or some remote place “beyond the blue” is God’s residence. Of course it is not!

God has chosen to live in mankind – not just any man or woman, but those with a “right” heart and mind. Paul told the Corinthian (and all others) that they must “discern and understand that YOU are God’s Temple (His sanctuary) and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in YOU.” (see 1 Corinthians 3:16) He told the Ephesians (and all others) “that Christ, through their faith, would actually dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in THEM.” (see Ephesians 3:17) John, in 1 John 4:15 says, “Anyone who confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he abides in God.”

In what kind of man or woman will He abide? Isaiah 66: 2 tells us that it will be a person with a “humble or broken or contrite spirit, and one who reveres and obeys the Word of God.”

What kind of man or woman are you? A man or woman in whom God is at rest? Or are you one who is not “fit” (redeemed, humble, contrite) for the presence of God?
