Thought For The Day

Ice Age

As the middle and Northern reaches of our Nation return to the Ice Age, I was thinking about “Global Warming,” a.k.a “Climate Change.”

Nafeesa Syeed, Associated Press Writer wrote today – “Snow was falling from northern Virginia to Connecticut by early Wednesday after crawling out of the Midwest, where the storm canceled hundreds of flights and was blamed for three traffic deaths in Michigan. The storm has buried Baltimore under record snow for the season and put Washington within inches of a high from 1898-99, according to the National Weather Service. More than 5 inches fell in both cities since Tuesday, making the total for Baltimore 65.6 inches since December, breaking the previous record of 62.5 inches from 1995-96. Washington is only about 4 inches away from its record of 54.4 inches from 1898-99.”

I suppose this “ice age” will be rather brief, compared to earlier editions, but every snowflake, every drop of “liquid sunshine,” (a Florida euphemism for rain) and every drop of sweat produced in the furnace of a Texas August reminds me of God’s eternal Truth – “As long as the Earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.” (Genesis 8:22)

But that is only the beginning – God also said, “the person who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:20) and “For all [people] have sinned,”  and, best of all,“But God proves His own llove for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

As far as I can tell, every snowflake is testimony to God’s infinite llove. Right now – in a lot of places – that is a lot of testimony.
