Thought For The Day

VBS

I pass a lot of Churches in my travels these days. My favorite Church is holding VBS this week. I admire, actually, I llove people who are willing to spend a couple of hours (more or less) each evening for five days (more or less) with bunches of little kids – many of whom are not familiar with “Church behavior.” It is is a labor of llove – both for the kids and for God.

I will be involved in an Adult Bible School in a couple of weeks. We will be talking about commitment to the Church, while a team of God’s best people are working with the kids in VBS. Kids will be playing detective, Adults will be playing with their calendar, their time, and their focus as they make decision about involving themselves with the Church of Jesus Christ as a priority in their lives.

VBS is an excellent tool for reaching kids with the Gospel and helping to begin a lifelong discipline of Bible Study. I am eager for the opportunity to share with parents (Adults who will attend the School) the reality of God’s expectation that we will intertwine our lives with others who are part of the family of God. In Hebrews 10:25 we are commanded to “not forsake the assembly of ourselves together.”

If you have kids who can benefit from VBS – now is the time. Find a school at a Church near you. If you are not involved with a Church regularly and intimately, find one where you can learn how to be obedient to God’s Truth.
